Bought 3 years ago. Brushed stainless on the back control panel started to burn from the heat vent on the right side under the control panel. Had to pay $100 for a service man to come for 10 minutes and tell me what I already knew. Maytag would pay for the part but I would have to pay another $175.00 to install. Service man agreed with me that it was a design flaw that's causing the problem. So much for customer service. Will never buy a whirlpool product again.

I won this in an sale and it's so great! I like the sleek chrome look and how big it was compared to my previous Kenmore Gas Range. It has so much more functions and the control panel is well integrated into range. I even saw a self cleaning function and I was like "What? I didn't know it was possible for gas ranges to clean themselves" Turns out it'll clean the oven interior by some heating with water, excuse my short understanding of this feature but I haven't used it yet. All in all it's very good has 5 burners a a great spacious oven and lots of functions for a gas range.

Very Disappointed

I was extremely excited to replace my electric range with gas and have generally had good experiences with Maytag products except this one. The cleaning function is horrible and does not come close to cleaning adequately. Aside from that the worst part is the knobs get a hot to the point I use an oven not or towel to touch them. Does not seem right and extreme hazard especially for children.

I've been using this range for about 1 month now and features are easy to use and design is made easy for clean ups. Easy to put together. All 5 burners are work well and the metal grills hold a small frying pan, dutch over, or even a wok exceptionally well in place with no issues. The one thing that I don't like so much is the storage drawer at the bottom feels a tad flimsy. When pulling it out, it feels like it may fall apart. The bottom drawer feels very thin (almost aluminum-like) but the space for storage is good. Overall, I would recommend for the price and performance it provides.

GARBAGE. Worst oven I have ever owned!

We purchased this oven less than a year ago and it has been a total regret. In less than a year the igniter stopped working and now the bake feature does not work. After speaking with Maytag we had a technician scheduled to come out this coming Monday. So still another 3 days with a useless oven. And now the company Maytag uses for service and repair has just called and said that they will be ordering a new part for the oven (believing it is indeed the igniter) and it will be anywhere from 7-10 BUSINESS days until the part arrives. So basically it could now take two weeks before this part arrives and a technician comes out. Aside from this, Maytag offers a self cleaning Aqua lift technology with this oven which DOES NOT WORK and HAS NEVER WORKED. More like AquaLift can't clean your oven and nothing else can. You can't use any abrasive cleaners because it will remove the finish in the inside of this oven, so there is basically ZERO way of cleaning it. You just have to deal with a dirty and disgusting oven. I don't understand how Maytag can stand behind this garbage of an oven. This has been the worst purchase my husband and I have ever made and we will NEVER buy Maytag again.

Updated my stove in time for the holidays. Boy am I glad I did. The convection feature allows me to bake multiple pans of cookies without rotating half way through baking. The oven is amazing. Aqua clean function is junk. Buyer Beware

I cooked some food for Thanksgiving and turned the self clean function on. After 3 attempts everything was still crusted on the bottom. I added water as the directions said no luck. Then after manually scrubbing it with a sponge it still wouldn't come off. I added easy off to it and it then removed the finish from the bottom. I actually had a Maytag service tech come a few weeks before because the glass door had streaks forming from normal use. He said it was normal moisture and would happeb again, but still went ahead and cleaned it by removing the the door and separating the two glass windows and cleaning it. I talked with him about the Aqua clean function because I tried using once before and it didn't do anything. He recommended running it a few times to clean it which I did and it still didn't do anything.

Grates peeling and horrible to clean

The cast iron grates are peeling and flaking after 2.5 months of ownership and about 1.5 months of daily use. The drip pan/tray is gloss black and shows every drip or splatter and it's very difficult to clean without it streaking horribly bad. I would not recommend this stove unless it was $350. Pics are of the flaking and drip pan cleaned with included scrubber and then with a surface cleaner and buffed.

Poorly designed low quality parts hard to clean

I've had this stove for a year and I would not recommend it to anyone. Functionality wise it does well for cooking and baking and the convection is great. BUT it's so hard to clean and doesn't hold up to normal wear and tear. First, the coating on the burner knobs started wearing off after only 3 months and now looks pitted and the plastic underpart is showing. The stove top racks are heavy and if you just so happen to place them wrong you can scratch up the stainless steel on the back (which I have done on more than one occasion). The stove top itself once racks are removed gets stained easily so no matter what kind of cleaner I use it never looks clean, especially around the burners. The aqualift self clean doesn't work practically at all. I'll have this unit for the next 10 years but would advise others to purchase something else.

Just purchased it 2 weeks ago July 2017 day after it was delivered the oven was not working. Had to already make a service repair call which I've never had to do with any products I've purchased before. And the knobs and the whole stove gets pretty hot! I have to warn everyone in my home not to get near the stove when I'm using it. Regret I bought it now! I will warn everyone I know not to purchase this brand or model. The stove top is a little awkward to use pots & pans don't fit right when using all the burners not sure what the center one is good for?

The oven and controls are fine. The burner controls are not very precise. The location of the large burners in the front can be awkward and they are impossible to use for simmering.The surface area under the burners shows any kind of dirt too easily and is not easy to clean.

Bad Control Panel Design

The MGR8700DS gas range was delivered July 2016. 10 months later, the control panel face has been scratched numerous times from lifting the burner grill to clean the surface. The vertical plane of control panel is over the grill and only a few inches above. Unless you do extraordinary manuvering to lift the grill away from the face, you will continuously scratch the control face. There are interlocking hooks on each that prevent ease of side movement. Bad design. Now I have a less than 1 year old stove with numerous scratches. As this is now discontinued, have to buy a replacement part before it is not available any longer.

Perfect Range for your kitchen

Cook top puts you in precise control.Replaced glass top electric and am thrilled with results. Higher heat with much faster response is a joy to cook with.

This oven is easy to clean and use. If the oven and ALL burners are on, the knobs get hot. If only the oven, the knobs are warm to the touch.

Gas Knobs turn on too easy

The oven and cooktop are great, but like review from ToniB the front gas knobs turn on easily when inadvertently bumped. We have had multiple occasions when gas smell coming from kitchen and would find one of the cooktop knobs turned. They need to be smaller and more rounded to not catch on clothing when bumped into.

Love it! The only down side is the knobs do get warm when using the oven, this would be a concern if I had children but I don't so I can deal with it.

Best decision ever, to switch from a glass top electric to this unit. The cook top is a real jewel, make cooking faster and easier. You have precise control of the heat. Convection oven bakes faster and more evenly. And Made in USA!

This powerful range is great to cook on. Both the burners and oven heat quickly, The controls are fairly easy to use. The lift-off grates make cleaning relatively easy. The only down-side is that we have not been able to find drip mats made to fit beneath the range grate. There are mats that can be made to work on it.

Looks and cooks great

We have had this range for over a month now and really are amazed at how much better it is than our old range. The convection cooks evenly through, the burners are like flame throwers boiling water much faster than old range, very easy to clean the top, haven't cleaned oven yet with self cleaning option. Very impressed and do highly recommend

really like this unit, but I hope the grates do not rust. they probably should have been porcelain coated. Also the grates don't hold the pot's & pan's level . The stove has been installed level, but the grates are somewhat doomed therefore the oil in a skillet will run to one side and not be even for optimal cooking.

Great price for a basic Range that does it's job.

The oven is large and bakes very evenly. I don't know if my old Range was a bit on the hot side but this one takes a little longer to bake things in Oven mode. Convection bake is faster but seems to brown the outside a little to fast. The front burners are defiantly a lot hotter than the large burner on my last Range. I did like the placement on my old one better as it put a large and a smaller one in the front and then reversed the order in the rear so you could get two large pots on and still have room for a small one. With this setup when a large pot is on the front there is no room to use the smaller burner behind it. Plus you would have to reach behind the hotter pot to get to it if there was room. I really don't know what the fifth burner is for, because if you use it you can't use any of the others. I feel that it is well built if not completely well thought out.
